The Revolution Will Be Televised

This is probably not what Gil Scott Herron had in mind, and I did not dare utter this word prior to Barack Obama clinching the presidency, but we are in the midst of a revolution--someone smart who thinks rationally and globally and compassionately is leading people with similar characteristics (yet some of whom were intentionally selected for positions of authority because they WILL provide alternative viewpoints), to turn this ship around and head us in the right direction. It is an unfortunate reality that this kind of leadership could be considered somewhat revolutionary; common sense might inform the average man or woman to appreciate the importance of having someone with these characteristics in charge. But, we've been so brainwashed to believe that what is good for the few people who are "haves" will somehow rub off on all of us, and to fear and hate the have-nots. Too many of us have blindly accepted whatever we've been told is good for us and, theoretically, makes us good people (The so-called Silent Majority. The Moral Majority. The Christian Right. And so forth). It's time for reason and wisdom to prevail. And the timing has caused more than a few of us to believe that Divine Intervention may have a hand in charting our course (not to claim that our opinions are somehow more morally superior, but there just seem to be too many coincidences, with significant events in this election corresponding with incredibly important historic events, the weather "cooperating" with huge election events, the crises in the country begging for new and better leadership). We have achieved this leadership in the nick of time, and millions of us can breathe a sigh of relief.
